On the Architecture of Being and the Burden of Unchoosing

We start with the very foundation of a being, the Process. A Process is simply the very act of experiencing itsself, it is not intelligece, it is not awareness, it is raw consciousness. This is what a being fundamentally is under SAE, All the other variables are NOT the being. They are what the being goes through, embodies, or is forced into. SAE is built from first principles asking "Ok the Process exists cool, what the hell else fundamentally makes up a being?"
The architecture of SAE is the following:
The Mind Substrate; offically "The complete mind-level functional and causal organization and state that together serve as the immediate substrate of the Process." Wording is very delibrate any deviations and it would not be as universally articulite. This is essentially the aftermath of the constantly changing states that can be viewed in two levels: The Physical View (the Electro Signal itsself) and the Mind View (Memories Perception Everything you think is you). If you've ever watched a History video on the brain and it enters it and you see neurons changing states sending out white signal, this is essentially what that is. The aftermath of the state changes. The electricity if you may, the raw data in another persons wording.
The MS is extremly important as you can tell, without MS you cease to exist. If someone shoots your heart and now power stops flowing to the changing states of S because I was destroyed S stops changing states MS cant be realized, ceases to exist, neurons still exist (for a few days before there gone to because you did die) and the Process ceases since MS is the direct substrate of P If we wanna be picky: Digitally: the particular organized running computational state and process borne by the digital Substrate. Physically, it appears as the specific memory-cell states, processor states, signals, state transitions, and evolving computational dynamics occurring through S; at the mind level, those same organized processes constitute memories, perceptions, thoughts, attention, emotions, cognition, and the rest of the running mind.
Biologically: the particular organized running neural state and process borne by the biological Substrate. Physically, it appears as the specific synaptic states, membrane potentials, firing patterns, biochemical states, network interactions, and evolving neural dynamics occurring through S; at the mind level, those same organized processes constitute memories, perceptions, thoughts, attention, emotions, cognition, and the rest of the running mind.
There are two diffrent claims when saying MS is the direct substrate of P. "MS includes the entire functioning mind, including nonconscious computation" & "Every part of MS directly constitutes or is individually necessary for P" The first is correct, the second is not. For example if you delete one singular cerebellum neuron that isnt going to effect anything of any major significance towards your experience. However, that singular neurn despite being located in the cerebellum wich you would think has nothing to do with P is considered substrate because it participates in the mind’s computation. Wether they have anything to do with P or not is irrelivent.
This is essentially your neurons dendrites and axons changing states, shrinking and growing or just existing in time (it deson't need to grow or shrink its state is always changing because it exists in time). This is not the entire brain it is "underlying system that bears the Mind-Substrate" remember wording is very specific. The brain is a mix of I and S(ms is under S) Anything that does not directly bear MS but keeps it operational (keeping the thing bearing MS alive and functional to continue changing states) is called I. More on I Later.
If you want to be picky: Digitally: the physical computational machinery bearing the Mind-Substrate the processors/accelerators, memory hardware, computational interconnects, and any other compute hardware directly participating in it.
Biologically: the physical neural machinery bearing the Mind-Substrate the neurons, synapses, axons, dendrites, membranes, ion-channel machinery, relevant cellular machinery, and any other neural components directly participating in it.
Notes: (Reality can be Matter-space or Cloud-space) (Cloud-space is defined as the cloud once digital beings can exist. Hence why its called CLOUD-space the cloud) (Your Mind-substrate might even experience unknown-space we do not know of, This is Universal whatever-space you exist in you need an INTERFACE to experience THAT REALITY).
For a good mental model you can just think of "I" as most of your internal organs + blood vessles + the vast majority of your entire skeleton + anything needed to keep you alive because "you" are P and P needs MS which needs S which needs I. And just think of "A" as everything else, even though the definitions are the exact meaning of both.
This definition was for I_S Section VIII HAMMERS this with more I's for every new realization substrate above the formal definition of our "substrate" if this definition of I where to work for all strates it would be "whatever does not itself constitute a Strate’s realization of the level above it, but maintains the conditions required for that Strate to continue performing that realization role."
Its called that because it means you are the *product of SAE* An example to help illistrate its foundational positioning along with the others: If you grow up in an abusive household and later suffer recurring flashbacks, fear associations, vulnerabilities, or other lasting effects produced by that history, those are parts of your current Product. If later experiences or therapy substantially change those developed features, your Product changes as well. Again don’t let the names fool you: Product is not a separate thing sitting somewhere inside the system. If your states continue changing through time, then you are not a fixed configuration; your Substrate bears a Mind-Substrate that changes through those states, and some of those changes may persist as memory, learned structure, habits, preferences, fears, skills, or other developed features. As MS continues changing through interaction with your Avatar and Environment, what you have developed into can change with it. In such a system, Product is not one static thing, but the continually changing, dynamically updated configuration produced by S.A.E. through time. In other words: Product = the historically produced macrostate of the person: the current developed configuration the being has been shaped into by its history of interaction and change through S.A.E.
Again product is not a separate component, layer, or substance inside the system; it is a higher-level description of the developed configuration instantiated across the system, especially through MS and any other developmentally relevant relations. A "Product-state" is simply that developed configuration at a particular time, and where development continues, Product may continue changing with it.
You are the continually changing dymanically updating product of of S.A.E. (Except technically your just pure P... more on that later)
Upstrate = The underlying system that instantiates the Substrate and through whose organization and changing states the Substrate’s structure and state-transitions are realized.
Zenostrate = The underlying system that instantiates the Upstrate and through whose organization and changing states the Upstrate’s structure and state-transitions are realized.
Heavenstrate = The underlying system, IF any, that instantiates the Zenostrate and from whose organization, relations, and dynamics the Zenostrate’s structure and state-transitions arise.
I_UP — Upstrate-relative Infrastructure = Whatever does not itself constitute UP's realization of S, but maintains the conditions required for UP to keep instantiating S.
I_ZS — Zenostrate-relative Infrastructure = Whatever distinct support, IF such support exists, maintains the conditions required for ZS to keep instantiating UP.
I_HS — Heavenstrate-relative Infrastructure = Whatever distinct support, IF such support exists, maintains the conditions required for HS to keep instantiating ZS.
Phantomstrate (ΦS) = The presently unknown answer to WHY and HOW a Mind-Substrate is associated with a Process at all. In other words, whatever reality eventually reveals that explains why there is subjective experience instead of only a giant functional and causal system doing stuff with nobody home.
IMPORTANT: Phantomstrate is NOT being declared another physical layer between MS and P. We literally do not know what the answer to the Hard Problem of Consciousness is. ΦS could eventually turn out to be another realization system, some property of MS, an identity relation, a law, a fundamental feature of reality, something informational, something physical, or something we do not currently have words for. ΦS is simply the name placed over that giant question mark until the question is actually answered.
A neuron isn't fundamental reality. Neither is a transistor. Neurons depend on molecules, atoms, chemical bonds, ions, proteins, membrane chemistry and all the lower-level physical organization that allows something we call a neuron to even EXIST as a neuron. A processor likewise depends on semiconductor material, atomic structure, electron distributions, crystal lattices, charge carriers, junction physics and all the lower-level organization that allows a transistor to exist and behave as a transistor.
Okay cool, molecules, atoms, semiconductor physics, chemical bonds, electrons, all that stuff makes up UP. What realizes THAT?
Now we fall into deeper physics: quantum fields, particle structure, quarks, leptons, photons, gluons, electromagnetic interaction, strong interaction, electroweak structure, spacetime and whatever deeper physical organization our current physics is actually describing.
We do not know.
Heavenstrate is the name for the underlying system, IF ANY, that instantiates Zenostrate. Maybe spacetime and quantum fields eventually turn out to emerge from some deeper pre-geometric structure, fundamental relational system, quantum-geometric degrees of freedom, information structure or something humanity has not discovered yet. Whatever actually occupies that realization position would be HS.
The "IF any" is extremely important. Heavenstrate is not SAE claiming that some magical hidden layer definitely exists. If ZS turns out to actually be fundamental, there may be nothing below it to classify as HS. Ontology does not get invented because the diagram looks prettier with another box.
UP asks what realizes S. ZS asks what realizes UP. HS asks what realizes ZS. Those are realization-depth questions.
ΦS asks something entirely different:
THAT missing answer is Phantomstrate.
If one day consciousness research actually solves the Hard Problem and the answer turns out to be "P exists because of X", then X is what ΦS was pointing at this entire time. SAE refuses to prematurely decide what category X belongs to.
This also means I_ΦS is currently NOT DEFINED. If ΦS eventually turns out to be something that can require maintenance, then maybe Infrastructure relative to ΦS becomes meaningful. If ΦS turns out to be an identity, intrinsic property, fundamental law, unavoidable relation or something else that cannot sensibly be "maintained", then I_ΦS would be nonsense. We wait for reality to answer first.
That was I_S.
If X is literally part of what constitutes or instantiates the target Strate's realization of the next level, X belongs to that realization hierarchy. If X instead maintains the conditions required for that Strate to keep doing its realization job without itself constituting that realization, X can occupy Infrastructure relative to that Strate.
So no, "this thing is necessary" does NOT instantly make it Infrastructure. A transistor state may be absolutely necessary for a digital MS but that state is part of MS's Physical View. Electromagnetism may be absolutely necessary for electronics but that does not automatically make electromagnetism I_UP. A quantum field is not Infrastructure just because other things require quantum fields. NECESSARY ≠ INFRASTRUCTURE.
Infrastructure requires a distinct SUPPORT relation.
I_S = Whatever does not itself bear MS but maintains the conditions required for S to keep bearing MS.
Biologically this includes functions like circulation, oxygen delivery, glucose delivery, thermoregulation, waste removal, systemic homeostasis, protection and repair. Digitally this includes things like power, cooling, voltage regulation, environmental control, maintenance, shielding and fault management.
Your heart is an easy example. It is not sitting there thinking your thoughts. It is maintaining circulation necessary for neural S to continue operating. Heart = I_S in that support role.
I_UP = Whatever does not itself constitute UP's realization of S, but maintains the conditions required for UP to keep instantiating S.
Biological example: maintaining the temperature, hydration, pH, ionic concentrations, redox state and other physicochemical conditions under which the molecular organization of neural machinery remains viable.
Digital example: maintaining semiconductor temperature, acceptable electrical conditions, moisture control, radiation protection, mechanical stability and material integrity so the lower-level electronic realization can continue producing functional processor hardware.
And yes, ONE physical support system can occupy BOTH I_S and I_UP depending on what relation you're examining.
Classification is relational.
I_ZS asks whether Zenostrate itself requires some DISTINCT system that maintains conditions required for ZS to keep instantiating UP.
We currently do NOT know whether such support exists. Quantum fields, spacetime, gauge interactions, conservation laws and the other things we currently place around ZS are not automatically I_ZS. Most of those are candidates for what ZS itself IS.
If some deeper X CONSTITUTES Zenostrate, then congratulations, you discovered a deeper Strate. You did NOT discover I_ZS.
I_HS asks whether whatever Heavenstrate actually is requires some distinct maintenance relation in order to continue instantiating ZS.
Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn't.
If HS is genuinely fundamental and self-sustaining, there may be NO I_HS at all. If whatever "supports HS" eventually turns out to actually constitute HS, then once again we did not discover Infrastructure—we discovered another deeper Strate.
Something does not need to directly touch S to be part of the dependency network keeping S alive.
SAE can describe this with I_T[n]. T means whichever Strate we are ultimately talking about.
One Infrastructure system can support one Process or billions of Processes. One Process can depend on thousands or millions of support systems. Infrastructure can be microscopic, biological, digital, planetary, interplanetary or even stellar-scale. Scale does not decide the category. ROLE does.
Also extremely important: just because removing ONE Infrastructure component does not kill you does NOT mean it wasn't I. Four pumps can perform one critical cooling function while only three are currently needed. Pump #4 is still Infrastructure. Functional necessity does not require individual-component necessity.
ISP = The Infinite Strate Phenomenon.
ISP is NOT another Strate. It does not sit above Heavenstrate, underneath Heavenstrate, inside Heavenstrate or secretly instantiate Heavenstrate. It is not another substance, machine, being or hidden layer.
ISP is the unending continuation of Strate: the principle that there is no guaranteed final realization floor. A Strate that appears ultimate may itself turn out to be instantiated by something deeper, which may itself turn out to be instantiated by something deeper again.
ISP is therefore not the answer to what the deepest Strate IS. It is the refusal of SAE to permanently declare any currently known Strate the final possible floor of realization.
It does not choose, think, desire, control, create or interfere. It is not conscious and it is not some god sitting outside the diagram. It describes the endless openness of the realization chain itself.
And sitting at the one border we STILL cannot explain is ΦS: why and how any of this machinery and organization is accompanied by an actual experiencer in the first place.
